  • Larger scale Models (The Tooline Masters) were created to provide better detail than their 1:1 counterparts. These would be scaled down again when cutting the steel tooling by using a Pantograph machine.
  • In the beginning, modified AMT 1/25 model kits were used.
  • In the first couple of years various sizes of Models were used, some as large as a 5up Nomad.
  • In 1970, instead of everyone making their own, the model making was farmed out to IDA (Industrial Design Associates) and were consistently made as 4up.

  • In 1970, IDA (Industrial Design Assosciates) gets the contract to make all models for Mattel
  • They bring consistency and all models are now made as the 4up size.
