Original tanks are very tuff to find. Lots of Reproductions exist.
The Super Charger solution was to add a Post to the base to allow use of Fuel Tanks. This gave the Super Charger something to grab on to as the cars passed through. The Fuel Tanks were also dropped before production but the Posts still remain on the bases.
The original intended versions of these cars
They all have Clear Glass, Cream Interiors, US Bearing Wheels and smooth Chassis
These cars, being narrow, had problems in testing going through the Super Charger, so the next version, with Fuel Tanks, was developed. -
